Why Matthew McConaughey Doesn’t Buy His Wife Expensive Gifts

Why Matthew McConaughey Doesn’t Buy His Wife Expensive Gifts

    Relationship

When 2 celebrities date each other, it’s always interesting to peep into their relationships to see how our favorite on-screen stars behave off-screen. Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves, are one of those couples. And he has so much tenderness, love, and care for his wife that he is probably the best husband ever, even without pricey gifts.

Their story is as romantic as it could possibly be.

McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves, have been together since 2006 and have been married for 10 years already. However, at first, it wasn’t easy for McConaughey to win the heart of his wife-to-be. After they met, hanging out with mutual friends, the actor tried to take Alves out 3 times, but each time, circumstances got in the way, and she declined.

The next time, he invited Alves to his place, cooked her dinner, and won her heart forever.

They’ve built a family since then.

McConaughey and Alves have 3 children together: 2 sons and a daughter. Though they have their own view on parenting, they are on the same page and support each other in raising their kids. The couple believes they are not supposed to be best friends with their children. They’d rather have to guide them through this life.

“My wife and I have a similar moral bottom line,” says McConaughey. “When kids try to good cop, bad cop ya, we’re on the same page. If they try to play us, we give the same answer. We also have a lot of fun. We can shape them, but they are who they are.”

McConaughey is very thoughtful toward his wife.

If it was up to McConaughey, his family would be much bigger. “I’d like to have 8 more kids,” he once shared. But Alves isn’t “not on the same page.”

At the same time, he understands that it’s his wife who has to go through the hardest part of the process. That’s why McConaughey isn’t pushing her but enjoys his role as a father. He has been dreaming about it since he was little.

He doesn’t buy Alves expensive gifts.

Instead of buying different costly gifts, McConaughey has found another romantic gesture to express his love to Alves. He gifts her with cute notes he makes himself. “An earnest handwritten note that she knows I sat down and took some time and has some poetry to it, that’s worth more than whatever retail I paid for something,” McConaughey shared.

The secret to their relationship is quite simple.

The secret is probably the simplest of all — they just love and accept each other, just like when Alves wanted to fix a tiny chip on her front tooth, “which leaves this beautiful gap,” as McConaughey put it.

And he loved it so much that he didn’t let her do that. “No way!” he said. “I love that little chip right there on your tooth. That little shadow that’s on that side but not that side. I love it!”
