For King Charles‘s coronation on Saturday, Princess Kate continued her longstanding relationship with Alexander McQueen, opting for a regal look from the fashion house that famously designed her Victorian-inspired lace wedding gown over a decade ago.

During the coronation service at Westminster Abbey, Kate wore an ivory silk crepe dress with silver bullion and threadwork embroidery featuring rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs, which symbolize the nations of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland respectively. With her hair pulled back from her face, the princess wore a sparkling headpiece by Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen that featured silver bullion, crystal and silver threadwork three-dimensional leaf embroidery.
On top of the dress, she wore the red-bordered blue satin Royal Victorian Order mantle along with the order’s insignia. Kate was named a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2019, for personal services to the sovereign, and at most formal events, the award is represented by a blue and red sash.

And as expected, her accessories held significant meaning for such a historic day. Her pearl and diamond earrings belonged to the late Princess Diana. She also wore the George VI Festoon Necklace, a piece made in 1950 at the request of King George VI for his daughter Princess Elizabeth.
