The two-parter Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos the Movie (Gekijōban Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon Cosmos in Japanese) won’t be coming out until June, but the people behind the films are already going heavy on advertisements. Two weeks after sharing a trailer, and one week after revealing more cast members, a trailer dedicated to the theme song is out. The theme song for both films is called “Tsuki no Hana” (translated as “Moon Flower”) and is performed by Daoko. You don’t get to hear the entirety of the song, but it does give you a nice feel for it!

The first movie will be released in Japan on June 9, followed by the second one on June 30. They will cover the “Shadow Galactica” arc from the manga.

The movies are being made at Toei Animation, with Tomoya Takahashi in charge of directing both. Credit for writing goes to Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, and the music is being composed by Yasuharu Takanashi. As a nice blast from the past, Kazuko Tadano, who worked on the original 90s anime Sailor Moon, is back to do character designs.

It was recently revealed that Saori Hayami will play Taiki Ko/Sailor Star Maker, Marina Inoue will play Seiya Ko/Sailor Star Fighter, and Ayane Sakura will play Yaten Ko. The same actresses who played the Sailor Scouts before will all be back for these movies.

Kodansha publishes the original manga in English, and gave this description for its plot:

“Usagi Tsukino is a normal girl until she meets up with Luna, a talking cat, who tells her that she is Sailor Moon. As Sailor Moon, Usagi must fight evils and enforce justice, in the name of the Moon and the mysterious Moon Princess. She meets other girls destined to be Sailor Senshi (Sailor Scouts), and together, they fight the forces of evil!”
